BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Ah, flowers. Their bright blossoms are showing their faces yet again during these increasingly warm spring days (if you're in the Northern hemisphere), flourishing in town squares, local gardens and perhaps on your windowsill or backyard. Flowers not only attract bees and butterflies
Though flower photos may be lumped together with the infamous eye and cat photographs as being trite/overdone I feel that there can never be enough photographs of flowers, simply because they are so ephemeral; most flowers only bloom for a few weeks, some for a few days. Since we cannot preserve flowers in their actual form forever why not record their likeness with photographs?
I (~dev) started this project as a mean of preserving the flowers that bloom each spring, flowers that many may take for granted. This eventually will become an 'Eternal Spring' of sorts... even in the middle of winter deviants can visit and be reminded that the warm months are not too far off, that in time they too will be able to see these blooms in their own front yards.
RULES/FAQ
To join please note ~dev with your name, country of residence, age, and a portfolio consisting of 5-10 of your best photographs. We would prefer that the photographs be of flowers or nature related but they need not be.
Once accepted you will have access to this account and will submit deviations through this account. Thus you will have to put your a link to your account in the description so that there will be proper credit.
The way the submissions will work is that every week there will be a subject (usually a type of flower) that everyone will photograph and submit. The limit per member per subject is 3 photographs. You are not obligated to submit every week but please try to submit at least twice a month.
Each subject will have its own deviation pack for easy access.
Currently there are no prizes except being a part of a semi-elite group that is working towards preserving beauty in its floral form. When we perhaps get some sort of money then we will hand out prizes like prints (but no promises here).
CURRENT SUBJECT (until June 15th)
Photograph a flower(s) that represents you. This can either mean it has some sort of significance in your life or you can relate to the flower in some way. For example I might photograph a plumeria or a hibiscuis because they remind me of my childhood in Hawaii. Someone else might photograph a rose because they have many 'layers' to their personality. Be as crazy as you like with this. I'm setting the deadline for June 31st.
Last Week's theme: Black & White Photography. We tend to heavily rely on colour in our flower photographs, this time around we want to see what you do with black and white... you'll have to pay careful attention to line, shape and contrast to create interest. Any sort of flower may be used for this. Be creative

Is there somewhere I can find the old projects, so I can sift through them?

There will be no new challenges for a month. I am putting the group on hiatus as I have seen waning interest among the members. The group will continue to accept new members & members should feel free to submit to the old challenges. In the interim I will be working to restructure the group and the challenges.
If you have any questions feel free to note me.
